According to a recent study conducted by the Wall Street Journal, 78% of their readers are in favor of legalizing online gambling in the United States. The Wall Street Journal has done a wonderful job of covering the most recent flow of activity in the world of online casinos and gambling at both the state and federal level in the country. The survey asked readers whether or not online gambling should become legalized and other questions including: are you listing Federal legislators?
However, the main question that was asked was: “Lawmakers in the US are pushing for bills that aim to steer around the federal laws that prohibit internet wagering. Gambling itself is not illegal but should the next step be to legalize gambling websites?”
Readers provided the newspaper with outstanding insight from common citizens including a voter stating that even though the federal government wants the perception that online gambling is illegal it is still a 6 billion dollar business in the United States.
Moreover, other readers who took the poll suggest their concern over that fact that online gambling may be so big that it may end the era of land based casinos all together. The most common response in the poll showed that there is too much money at stake for the government to keep ignoring.
Playing casino games, whether online or on land is just not going to disappear, and it’s about time that the United States government realizes that the regulation of these online games will bring more revenue for the country to strengthen the nation in a much needed time with the creation of countless jobs and the chance for other industries such as telecommunications and retail, benefit from the business as well. However, what opponents argue is that the easy access to online casino games leads to corruption and the chance for minors to place bets without no complications.
